Ingame Player Mods
Just an idea i had, but maybe worth Ncsoft implementing it with a view to stamping out the bots n leeches in PVP
Basically requires some of us the players being selected by them to mod pvp arenas, can`t actually drop in to games, but observe them as they take place.
Any leeching or botting that gets seen , the mod then has the ability to remove that players faction gain for the day, maybe remove from the arena as well.
Mod position would be entirely voluntary and non paying so not costing ncsoft anything, and would require players to do maybe 1 - 10 modding a week. With enough players doing it time spent modding would go down and would barely impact on playing time for those selected.
Thoughts ?

Biggest hurdle would be finding people who actually want to do it - for no pay.
Also, Anet will have to develop the features required for modding i.e. not gonna happen.

I`d happily give up several hours a week to do the job, i feel like i`m sort of doing it anyway, looking at the length of the support ticket i have going at the moment regarding leeches in JQ .
Maybe in return for doing it, instead of payment you could get special limited items for use ingame after you`ve committed x amount of time ?
In game modding is nothing new , and i`m sure there must be some sort of industry standard software for game devs that could be adapted for use by ANET to cut down on the development costs as such.

You seem to not realize that anyone willing to do it for free will most likely abuse the power.

This. Why did you make this thread in two different forums? It's a bad idea with almost no merit to it. =\

The treacherous are ever distrustful , i mean of course, there`d be absolutely no way that the actions of the Arena Mods would be monitored would there, like automatically saving any game they act in on the server for review ......nah lets just assume anyone who wants to help the PVP community is corrupt and unstrustworthy.
Idiots !

Thanks for the QQ because someone disagreed with you
I mean seriously you have yet to show that this power won't be abused simply because it's impossible to make unabusable power.

" i mean of course, there`d be absolutely no way that the actions of the Arena Mods would be monitored would there, like automatically saving any game they act in on the server for review ..." thats called oversight , meaning any action taken by a mod could and would be reviewed
You on the other hand just seem to automatically assume that any mod is going to automatically abuse his/her position , no doubt judging people by your own moral standards. Its a hell of a lot easier to just crap on an idea and post negative unsubstantiated opinions than it is try suggest something to fix a problem, do you actually play any pvp i wonder ?

Won't make anything unabuseable. Still greif potential just limited Grief potential. If anet says hey whats going on you seem to be interefering with this person when we couldnt see them doing anything wrong. You can simply say oh the way he casted that looked bot like. And they'll be like Kay it was just a mistake. So long as you don't do it to more then 1 or 2 people in a day, you can remove the faction that they get or your other idea was to ban them from an arena. So next time someone calls you a noob you can just take action against them next time their favorite arena comes up as the zquest.
So long as you don't make it obvious abuse. Your "moderator review" does nothing as it's reactive.

You are naive if you think people are good inatly good. You have no clue about my moral standards. I can tell from your posts in here calling people idiots because they disagree you have very emotional reactions and would be one of the last people I would want with this power.
On a side note most of my PvP is a few hours of RA every day maybe JQ if it's the zquest.

@ balky, you realize that just about every single post in both of the threads you posted has concluded that this is a terrible idea that has the dual qualities of being unfeasible and introducing more opportunities for griefing. Google dunning-kruger, I think we might have a case of it.

What is being suggested is tantamount to hypocrisy. Let's take a look at this situation:
Problem:
There are corrupt players who like to abuse the way the game works. These people are untrustworthy.
Solution:
Give corrupt, untrustworthy players the opportunity to volunteer for a role of power which they can just as (if not more) easily abuse
The problem is you can't get the people who are causing the problem to fix the problem.. because that won't work!
And also you said to save any game where someone is "modding" so it can be looked over later. But then staff would need to look at these complaints as well as the usual complaints from games that weren't overseen by someone in this new role (you wouldn't be able to oversee every game, the majority would still be unmoderated, I'd imagine).
Finally: Elitism. In my opinion, anyway of raising some people above others is bad. People would end up arguing over who has done the most matches, and you'd need to have banned x people before you can GvG. OK obviously not to that extent but my point stands.
Also whether or not someone plays pvp is irrelevant.

Anet would decide who the mods are drawn from the list of applicants
Your suggestion that anyone who would want to be a mod is by default going to be untrustworthy is complete and utter bollocks !
The possibility of being in a game thats being observed by a mod will be enough to deter some from leeching which can only be a bonus as far as the majority of decent honest players are concerned, ingame mods are nothing new, EA were using them back in Red Alert 2 days decades ago !
Oh and not every post has said its a bad idea!
Like i said, instead of just crapping on an idea...why not try adding to / improving on it ? or is that too much hard work ? Because lets face it the current system is next to no deterrence what so ever !
